In addition, the program is a fundraiser for The Wellness Community-Silicon Valley, which provides education and support services at no charge to individuals and families facing cancer.

The dinner is a findraiser for The Wellness Community, Silicon Valley, a 501 (c)(3) organization. Dinner tickets are $150; table sponsorships are $1,500. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible. Order tickets.

Attention cyclists: Tour the mountains and support survivors

Tour de Max is back!  Join the 4th annual tour of the Santa Cruz Mountains on Sunday, August 10, a cycling event that will benefit programs for cancer survivors, including The Wellness Community, Silicon Valley.

What's Tour de Max About?  Maximum fun. Maximum challenge – in memory of cancer survivor Max Seales Yonker.

The event offers two routes, one a challenging tour of the San Francisco
Peninsula, beginning at Roche Palo Alto and winding over 70 miles, starting with a climb of Page Mill Road.  The 40 mile short ride rolls through Portola Valley, Los Altos Hills, and Los Altos across quiet, suburban roadways.

Both courses offer support and rest stops, ending with a barbecue picnic hosted by the Dutch Goose, with fresh brews from Gordon Biersch, live music from SNUG! and a raffle. The grand prizes this year include a  TREK 4300 mountain bike and an Andy Hampsten-autographed Giro d’Italia t-shirt.

So far, Tour de Max sponsors say, they have donated every penny paid by riders in every Tour de Max to cancer survivorship causes, and this year they promise to send at least 70 percent of participant fees to cancer survivor programs, including TWCSV and Camp Okizu.

The Max Seales Yonker Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, also supports the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

To participate, sign up at www.active.com or download a registration form and send it in by mail.  For more info: www.tourdemax.org, or call Kahuna-Tom at Tour de Max Central (650) 576-4510.

You can also order a Tour de Max cycling jersey (full-zip by Champ-Sys) and/or T-shirt to commemorate your ride and show your support.  Check the website for details.
